Power to spare and agile enough to handle my cabinet making.
This has to be the best hammer/drill/driver that i've ever used.
After doing all the research on specs for various other drills this seemed to be the one. So far this drill has been flawless and perfect with no complaints.
I bought this hammer drill to use for home projects and helping friends with theirs. This drill is without a doubt the best I've had
The Makita BHP454 Hammer Drill is very good quality but has one major failure same as but worse than my Hitachi Hammer Drills: The key-less chuck spits out the drill bits and screw driver bits when you release the trigger.
Works & handles very well as both a regular and hammer drill with plenty of power.
I compared this drill with Milwaukee 0824-20 and it is much faster and powerful than Milwaukee. Makita took 39 secs to drill a 1/2 inch hole in 4 inch concrete block (not hollow). Milwaukee did the job on 52 sec.
I am a contractor and I have owned dozens of drills... I did my research and quickly realized the advantages of this drill over its competition.
This will absolutely not replace anybody's rotary hammer, but if all you need to do is plant some Tapcons or knock a hole through some brick to pull cable through, it's a wondrous jack of all trades drill indeed. I have no complaints so far.
